The Seven Villages of the Hing Chun AllianceOur Stories

You may have been to Lai Chi Wo and its neighbouring villages, but how much do you know about the life of the villagers in the old days?

Since 2016, with the support of the Lions Nature Education Foundation, Hong Kong Geopark started to conduct  interviews with the villagers under a project entitled “Same Roots Same Origins”. These oral records not only transcended the traditional concept of "one place with only one history"; but they also helped the local communities value their natural and cultural heritage as advocated by the UNESCO. These valuable records were used to establish several Story Rooms, which provide visitors with atypical travel experience.

To tie in with the further opening of Sha Tau Kok, the seven villages of Hing Chun Alliance partner with Hong Kong Geopark, the Lions Nature Education Foundation and Chinachem Group again to launch the “Our Stories” series.
